Впервые на Голд Косте в центральной парковой зоне, именуемой Broadwater Parklands, 23 ноября прошел ежегодный Фестиваль русскоязычной диаспоры «Как прекрасен этот мир!»
Despite the tragedies and conflicts unfolding in our homelands, leaving fresh wounds in many hearts, people responded to Svetoch’s call. They supported the idea of a cultural forum — sometimes despite their circumstances, sometimes because of them.
They supported it for the sake of their children. With gratitude to Australia, which welcomed us all — with its peaceful, multicultural laws and traditions.
With hope for creation and unity.
With confidence that the seeds of creativity and friendship planted in children’s hearts will grow strong — and adults will become kinder.
Young and seasoned artisans displayed their crafts and serious works of art.
The “Children’s” and the “Ukrainian” marquees were especially impressive — true galleries of traditional arts.
Artists Alla Art, Ulyana Gardner, Inessa Ivaskanin, Inessa Cole, and Oksana Kuziy presented their works, many of which found new homes.
A permanent queue formed at the tent run by renowned Georgian chef Rezo Teimurazov with his trusted partner Taisia Prosalova and their assistants.
Colourful traditional costumes — Belarusian, Ukrainian, Russian, Georgian — delighted the eye.
Master craftswoman Larisa Naboyshchikova demonstrated the art of decorative knitting. Sweet lovers were tempted by Anna Karikova’s fantastical marshmallow creations and the cakes of Irina Davydova.
Renata Jones, Director of MFO, delivered warm remarks, naming all 16 Slavic countries and clearly signalling hopes for future expansion of the festival.
The relay continued with the Russian School of Sunshine Coast (Director Elena Brennan), the “Svetoch” Children’s Studio (Mentor Svetlana Gordeeva), the Russian School “Romashka” of Gold Coast (Director Anna Belousova), and the Belarusian Studio “Vasilek” of Brisbane (Leader Zhanna Gorbacheva).
When children sing, everyday worries fade. Their voices and movements have a power far greater than professional skill — a special language that conveys purity of spirit, stirs imagination, inspires growth, and cleanses the soul.
Whether in the operatic voice of gifted Georgian singer Eteri Shushiashvili, who travelled from Sydney, or in the spirited Ukrainian song “Oy, Smereka” performed brilliantly by Ilya Climson.
Similar magic filled the stage with each young “star”: Kirra Ananyeva, Nicole Polkovnikova, Karina El-Tavil, Alina Err, Milan Topolyansky.
A waltz began, and Oriana and Austin Vint swept the audience into their dance. The classical piece gave way to a lively jive aptly titled “Good to Go.”
the folk ensemble Samotsvety (Brisbane), Yulichka Crowther (Brisbane), Inessa (Sunshine Coast), Polonce (Brisbane), Elena Filatova (Gold Coast), and Zhanna and Ivan Gorbachev (Brisbane).
The concert lasted nearly four hours, yet the audience stayed — captivated by the performers. The hosts, joined in the second part by the lovely Sofia Rakhimova, carried the program with inspiration, while the irreplaceable DJ Lev Root provided seamless musical accompaniment.
A special prize — an embroidered vyshyvanka handmade by Svetlana Gordeeva — was presented on behalf of Svetoch to MFO Director Renata Jones, thanks to whom, for the first time under the serene coastal sky, people from different countries gathered and shared the joy of creativity.
“One of our visitors wrote on social media: ‘It was something extraordinary. We must repeat it!’ An exaggeration, perhaps — but not by much.
